The Chapter decided to follow up on the success of last years Toy Run, and collect again for Scratch, (Southampton City Region Action To Combat Hardship). We were delighted with the overall support and donations where the generosity of Freemasons from the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and lodges further afield, came to the fore. This year we asked the newly consecrated Hampshire and Isle of Wight Motorcyclists Lodge, No. 9939, and the Provincial Area Charity Stewards to assist us.
Around 1000 toy donations were collected, and Ninja PGM, Michael Wilks presented SCRATCH with a cheque of £3000. The toys and monies will go towards their Christmas Complete project, to relieve the effects of hardship, disadvantage and poverty for individuals and families living across Hampshire.
The toys were carried in three vehicles, and escorted by 27 motorbikes, with most riders and pillions in fancy dress.
From both WSMBA Southern and MCL9939, and on behalf of SCRATCH, we would like to express out deepest thanks to all the Lodges and individuals who donated both new toys and cheques. Thanks also to Mike Wilks for supporting the Christmas Toy Appeal, and to all the Masonic Bikers who gave their time to join the ride also. Lastly, thanks to Kevin Head and the Provincial Area Charity Stewards, as without their individual efforts, we could not have covered the whole Province.
The benchmark is set higher now, and we need to plan ahead for next year, so get Saturday 8th December 2018 booked in your diaries now.
